MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2020 goes Digital with Online Convenience for Medical Sourcing Needs

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2020 goes Digital
with Online Convenience for Medical Sourcing Needs

Ten-day digital experience for a vibrant marketspace to conduct business 24/7

Singapore, 22 September 2020 – Messe Düsseldorf Asia announced today that the 13th edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA will take place as a digital edition from 9-18 December. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA Digital Edition will offer a purpose-built online B2B experience for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and trade buyers from the medical and healthcare sector to conduct business on a secure sourcing platform.

The well-established medical and healthcare exhibition first started in 1997 has since grown to be one of the most recognised regional events for sourcing hospital, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, medical and rehabilitation equipment and supplies. This shift to a digital event is in response to the dynamic situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, where travel and physical restrictions are still in effect globally.

Moving from in-person interactions at a physical trade event to making virtual connections anywhere in the world, MEDICAL FAIR ASIA Digital Edition aims to deliver the onsite benefits of a trade fair but with all the convenience of an online experience.

Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, said: “It is a new reality in these trying economic times and we continue to adjust how we do business in the face of new customer habits and digital trends. Taking care of our customers is a top priority, and in the absence of a physical exhibition this year, staying true to the MEDICAL FAIR ASIA brand, both exhibitors and visitors can be assured that the digital edition will be an effective platform connecting global sellers and quality buyers.”

“On the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are clear signals that indicate an acceleration of omni-channel selling, tech-enabled selling and ecommerce. We believe the digital edition is well timed in serving the current needs of the medical industry, as well as medium term needs as potential demand for elective and delayed essential procedures see resurgence,” added Mr Ringling.

More than 300 international companies are expected to participate at the digital edition. In addition, over 30 presentation and conference sessions will run concurrently – live and on-demand, with speakers from the Start-Up Podium and Wearable Technologies ASIA Conference.

Ms Daphne Yeo, Senior Project Manager, MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, Messe Düsseldorf Asia said: “We are excited to announce this digital edition and believe it will be a fresh experience for exhibitors and visitors to do business and remain connected via this new format. The live-streaming and video call features where exhibitors and visitors can interact face-to-face is as personal an encounter as is possible and coupled with the multi-language capabilities, we are confident it will be an effective business platform.”

Strategic sourcing online

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA Digital Edition will offer trade visitors focused and targeted sourcing opportunities – from medical products and devices, rehabilitative equipment and new technology, telemedicine, to pandemic management solutions.

The digital exhibition will allow companies to present their product offerings and services online, with live-streaming of product demonstrations, realtime interaction with buyers via one-to-one video meets and instant chats. On a user-friendly dashboard, both exhibitors and visitors can view suitable matches and personalised meeting suggestions based on their interests and profile through AI driven smart business matching. Trade visitors will also have access to a comprehensive technical presentation showcase throughout the exhibition.

Attendees to the concurrent line-up of activities will experience the full benefits of a live conference including presentations and Q&A sessions. Content will also be available on-demand for delegates based in different time zones.

Mr Darren Liao, Product Manager of Milli-Q Lab water Division, Merck Pte Ltd, said, “Joining the digital edition this year was a natural decision particularly with the challenging travel restrictions. We look forward to join the exhibition, so we can share our solutions to clinical, pharmaceutical and medical device companies and at the same time, contribute to the COVID diagnostic and related research.”

Commenting on the positive feedback from exhibitors on the move to a digital edition, Mr Ringling said that after an extended period of isolation, businesses are likely to have an appetite to get back on track as economic recovery begins and remains hopeful in playing a part to stimulate activity and investment in the B2B event space with the digital edition. “The visceral
enthusiasm and our human need to interact and for personal encounters at exhibitions are irreplaceable and will result in recovery in time. We are optimistic and look forward to staging the physical exhibition at the next edition of the MEDICAL FAIR series which will take place next year in Bangkok,” he said.

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND breaks multiple attendance and participation records at its 9 th edition

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND breaks multiple attendance and participation records at its 9 th edition

  •  28 percent increase in visitors and growing international profile
Singapore, 24 September 2019 – MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2019 proved to be a roaring success as it welcomed more than 11,525 trade visitors from over 70 countries and regions, and 900 exhibitors and 21 national and group pavilions; breaking records and exceeding expectations on multiple levels when it closed last week. The 28 percent increase in visitors from the 2017 edition as well as the exhibition’s growing international profile saw nearly 40 percent of visitors coming from outside Thailand. The marked increase in visitorship from the neighbouring markets of Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam, is also testament to the region’s demand, and readiness, to procure medical solutions and healthcare innovations at trade platforms such as MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND.  The 3-day exhibition also hosted several visiting delegations and various industry trade associations from all over the world — another strong indication of MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND’s standing as a must-visit sourcing platform.

The success story of first-time Korean exhibitor, Plasmapp Co. Ltd underlines MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND as the ideal business event for meeting targeted and quality trade visitors in the medical and healthcare sector; on the second day of the exhibition, Plasmapp Co. Ltd secured a US$2 million contract – their company specialises in medical sterilisation devices which utilises high-quality plasma solutions. According to its CEO, Mr Youbong Lim; “We have participated in many exhibitions and MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND has been really good as we are able to meet genuine dealers here. We have met potential leads from many countries, including Thailand and Singapore and we are overall very impressed with the exhibition.”

MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND began in 2003 with just 177 exhibitors but has grown exponentially over the last 16 years as it continues to reinvent itself with its forward-looking approach. This year’s edition profiled two new innovative features — the Community Care Pavilion which focuses on products and solutions for an ageing population such as remote sensors and monitoring devices and mobility solutions; as well as the Start-Up Park — a platform for start-ups to showcase their innovations and to meet potential investors and customers. A hit with visitors and other exhibitors on the show floor, who were impressed by the range of technology on display, the Start-up Park showcased companies from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and
Thailand. According to Dr. Subhasis Banerji, Founder and Managing Director of SynPhNe Pte Ltd, of one of the Start-up Park exhibitors, “We had a good stream of potential customers from local hospitals as well as visitors from India whom we had good conversations with.” SynPhNe is a Singapore-based startup specialising in wearable technology and solutions, and therapy devices that help restore coordination and mobility for those who have suffered brain injury or stroke.

On the local front, the positive visitor numbers can also be attributed to the surge in the number of hospital and group visits from various public and private hospitals, medical facilities, and related establishments from Bangkok and the surrounding provinces. Bangkok Hospital, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Ramkhamheang Hospital, and Vejthani Hospital were among the 95 organisations who sent groups of representatives to MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2019.

The heightened interest from the local medical and healthcare community in promoting Thailand’s expertise and capabilities was further reflected on the show floor under the umbrella of three Thai pavilion organisers; Thailand Center of Excellence of Life Sciences (TCELS), the Medical and Health Device Manufacturers Industry Club (MEDIC), and long-time exhibitor National Innovation Agency (NIA) of Thailand. This was NIA’s fifth time exhibiting at MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND and MEDICAL FAIR ASIA; which takes place in Singapore. The 60-strong representation from Thai companies was also indicative of the country’s commitment to further strengthen its position as a leading hub for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and a world-class
provider of medical care under the Thailand 4.0 initiative.

The next edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA will be held from 9 to 11 September 2020 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. A detailed post event report on MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND 2019 will be released soon.
